I've always found something interesting about the Fox-body Mustang, particularly when it was in its last few years of production and reached its peak both in terms of the type of parts and technology FoMoCo put into it, and how the styling department cleaned it up including eschewing the " !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! " grille it came with in '79 in favor of the clean "aero"-themed nose pictured above. While every post-'73 'Stang tried to emulate or at least ape at the original style of the first-gen Mustang in some fashion (including the Mustang II), the Fox-body 'Stangs were the only ones so far that dared go in a completely different direction. Yes, the cars are unmistakably 80s but then again I don't think anybody would have any trouble ID'ing the SN95s as being 90s vintage, or the last of the solid axle cars being solidly in the now. Actually, the Foxes remained fresh even in their waning days in 1993, thanks largely to styling updates including the aforementioned rhinoplasty. I know the notchbacks are the most desirable simply from a weight/performance standpoint but the fastbacks are simply killer.

Foxes are becoming better appreciated as a combination of low used market prices and drivers looking for a serious performance platform means many are returning to the streets. In fact, I'd dare say the platform is nearing iconic status right now and even spilling over onto other Fox platform siblings including the Lincoln Mk VII, Thunderbird/Cougar pair and even the Ford Fairmont. With so many 80s and early 90s Mutangs to go around prices remain depressed despite the popularity, increasing the car's "no-brainer" factor. Of course, not every Fox-body Mustang is going to be cheap and with less than 5,000 SVT Cobras leaving Dearborn in 1993 you might have a better chance of seeing Bigfoot. Though I love the Cobra, I do prefer the looks of the earlier 4-eyed Fox Stangs.

My dad resurrected this 5.0L bad boy while I was in high school:

Kinja'd!!!

Not the prettiest or smoothest shifting thing ever, but my god, that illegal cat delete enhanced noise. Also, watching a state trooper read your dad the riot act for drifting around a giant traffic circle is a hilarious experience every child should have.
